In her own words.
My name is Ka Vue. I was born in Thailand and grew up in Wisconsin. I am Hmong. My mom started teaching me how to cook when I was around 13. I really didn’t enjoy it at first. But as my knowledge and skills with food expanded, so did my
Chef Ka Vueappreciation and love for food.

I loved to cook for my family and they loved my cooking. I realized I had quite a passion for it and so I pursued it as my career. I enrolled in culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Minnesota. After graduating, I worked at Sea Change(sustainable seafood) and the Bachelor Farmer(Nordic - farm to fork), both located in Minneapolis.

Working at these restaurants, I’ve learned so much and met many extraordinary individuals that influence my cooking today. But restaurant work was hard, mostly physically. Also with those late nights and weekends, I barely saw my family and friends. So I decided to look elsewhere and explore different options. That was when I found Friend that Cooks, a personal chef service company.

Cooking has been such a huge part of my life. I love reading cookbooks. I love learning different recipes or versions of how to cook one certain dish. It simply amazes me. I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning when it comes to cooking.

But when I’m not cooking, I enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, playing video games like Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, and the Legend of Zelda. Traveling is always fun when I get a chance to. Binge watching on Netflix or reading a good book(not a cookbook) are also things I like to do.
