Friend That Cooks donating Weekly Meal Prep for FAAN Walk for Food Allergy fundraiser
Five years ago when I started Friend That Cooks Home Chef Service
, I envisioned that our customers (who we call Friends
) would be made up primarily of busy moms and a few elderly persons who need assistance getting healthy and delicious meals on the table each night. Within a short time, I started getting calls from parents whose children had food allergies, or who were Diabetic themselves or had other dietary restrictions. Little did I know that 5 years into our cooking service, the number of Friends we serve who have dietary restrictions would grow from 10% to nearly 50% of our total customers.
Food allergies affect millions of Americans, adults and children alike. For someone with a food allergy, trying to find the cause can be a very frustrating process. Trying to think up new ways to prepare meals without aggravating their allergies can be even more frustrating. In addition to helping people with food allergies solve these problems, Friend That Cooks Home Chef Service
is proud to be partnering with FAAN (Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network) to raise money for food allergy programs and awareness. We are donating a free Week of Meal Prep to be raffled at the FAAN Walk for Food Allergy
at Theatre in the Park Pavillion
at Shawnee Mission Park at 9 am on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
FAAN has set up an online registration
to take part in the walk. If you or someone you know has been affected by food allergies, please consider putting together a team and walking to raise money to support FAAN. If you'd just like a chance to win a free week of Meal Prep Service, sign up anyways! Make sure anyone you know with food allergies learns about this great group and what they can do to help also. Join their Facebook page
to keep up to date on news about the walk.
